Voices of Pay Equity Lost, an important new report commissioned by the Public Service Association Te Pukenga Here Tikanga Mahi was launched today.
The report shares the experiences of care and support workers whose lives, families, and futures have been affected by cancelled pay equity claims. Through the stories of Camella, Bethany, Christie, Sarah, Kate, Rachel, Dan and Dev, the report highlights the real human impact of policy decisions on workers who provide essential care and support every day.
We are incredibly grateful to these workers for generously sharing their experiences and insights. Their voices are at the heart of this research.
The researchers, Professor Katherine Ravenswood and Emma Hitchcock from the AUT Social Transformation Research Institute (ASTRI), used a thoughtful, rigorous and compassionate approach to help bring these stories to life with care and integrity.
We thank the PSA for commissioning this research and supporting evidence-based conversations about pay equity and the value of care and support work in Aotearoa New Zealand.
