Ageing and Caring Well Together

Dr Betty Ofe-Grant recently presented at the Ageing & Caring Well Together Symposium: Getting Research Ready, hosted by the Centre for Co-Created Ageing Research Institute and held at Massey University, Wellington. She shared how caring for her mother through diabetes, dementia, and severe disability, often alone with support mainly from her husband and daughter, revealed the isolation, physical harm, and emotional labour that caregiving can demand. The experience also deepened her scholarship on care as relational and politicised, informed by difficult and at times unsafe family dynamics and the unseen burdens many daughters carry.
